Sineann Pinot Noir Wyeast Columbia Gorge 2013

Member Review by jjknight38:

According to the wine maker's notes. This Pinot comes off the Wyeast Vineyard, a south-facing, high elevation vineyard in the Hood River Valley. I'm saving my money for a vertical of this region, specifically the Wyeast Pinot Noir. 13.5% alcohol and if you like wines from across the pond you will love this one too!

We source our fruit from some of the best vineyards in the region; Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from the Willamette Valley and the Hood River Valley, Cabernet, Merlot and Zinfandel from the Columbia Valley, Gewurztraminer from the Columbia Gorge. We've started making wine from the Napa Valley. (We hear it is a world class winegrowing region.) We also make wine in New Zealand - Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. Making wine in only one hemisphere is so boring... Our growers have great pride in the grapes they provide us. Almost all our wines are vineyard designated. No expense is spared in our pursuit of great wine. Crop levels are kept very low, one to three tons per acre. Winemaking is meticulous. All fruit is hand sorted, delicately destemmed, punched down by hand, gently pressed and gravity racked. The wines are aged in new and one year old French oak. The bottom line is, we strive to make great wine. It's the only kind of wine that makes it onto our dinner table. It's exciting to make and gratifying to share. We believe that food and drink, lovingly prepared, make for happier and healthier people. Read less

A distinctive and well structured pinot. "Sineann-esque", but not his best. Paired with a cedar plank smoked salmon with a rub- seemed like a good match but in the end they competed a bit.

Lighter in body than the other Sineann PNs, this was bright garnet in color with a nice structure, bright acidity, and blackberry and cherry flavor palate. Easy drinker. Great with food.

Beautiful ruby color, with enticing aromas that were hard to describe--earthy, foresty, red fruits. A bit disappointing on the palate, tasted disjointed. Would be better with some age on it. But if you like funky earthy pinots, drink now. Good QPR,

An unusual and very dense Pinot Noir. I have tasted this wine several times and have found it to be a very serious wine. Fruit takes a definite back seat here, with leather, earth, and dark, stewed fruit up front. It would be a good match for game. kybecca.com

Sineann Pinot Noir is sourced from various vineyards in Oregon from Willamette Valley to the Columbia Gorge. Plummy fruit mingles with streaks of chocolate and a whiff of red licorice, a rich vein of fruit and barrel, supported with well-tamed tannins.

OregonSineann Pinot Noir Oregon 2008 is a beautiful red wine gem from the Pacific Northwest made by Peter Rosback. The grapes for this Pinot Noir came from several top vineyards: Resonance, Able, Yates Conwill, Covey Ridge, Lachini and Schindler. 2008 was a vintage that featured ripe grapes at somewhat lower alcohol levels. Cool, dry weather lasted deep into October - the sort of year that produces the best Pinot Noirs. Only 1500 cases were produced.Sineann Pinot Noir is dark and aromatic with great natural acidity and spicy, rich flavors of black cherry, black raspberry and clove. It is silky smooth on the palate with a very long finish. Enjoy Sineann Pinot Noir now and over the next 5-7 years with grilled Coho salmon, roast pork, spinach souffle and cheeses. Note the glass stopper in place of a cork or screwcap to preserve the wine. Sineann has been using glass stoppers for several vintages and has found them superior to other closures. We like them for their elegance and simplicity and for the assurance that not one bottle of Sineann Pinot Noir will be corked!
