Simonsigs much-honored Merindol Syrah (a name taken from the Malan Family Coat of Arms) is a premium quality, oak-matured Syrah from a selected single vineyard site. It is a deep, Persian carpet red, with the concentrated Syrah aromas of black mulberry fruit and white pepper against an exotic spicy, vanilla oak backdrop. Smooth entry on the palate reveals delicious, perfumed berry fruit. Unashamedly full-bodied, with luxurious oak providing layers of richness and texture, the classic, firm tannin structure provides backbone. There is a food-friendly dryness on the finish.
