Simoneau Vineyards Chardonnay Alexander Valley Brenda Lee 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2008 Simoneau Vineyards Brenda Lee Chardonnay is as remarkable as the woman it honors. Restrained and elegant, full of promise. With limited availability…well, you know, she’s already spoken for. This is the inaugural release, and just 110 cases were bottled. Served By-The-Glass at a legendary Healdsburg Bistro, it’s already become a those-in the-know favorite. Here’s why. Just six barrels of Chardonnay from the Simoneau Ranch Vineyards in Alexander Valley were produced, selected from a five-acre section of the vineyard first planted in 1972. Brenda Lee Simoneau reviewed a variety of barrel samples to find a style she could call her own. That turned out to be a golden hued Chardonnay with just 10% malolactic fermentation, a fruit-forward wine with a richness and full mouth-feel resulting from battonage. Brenda’s favorite is a tad crisp, with layers of complex flavors, a truly lovely wine like the lady herself. No oak bomb, this. Instead, a Chardonnay that enhances every occasion, showing off the pear, apple and vanilla notes that come from a wine perfectly in balance. Brenda Lee’s birthday comes around just once each year, and so does her Chardonnay. Give yourself a treat, order now before it’s just a memory. The Vitals: 100% Chardonnay Clones 4, 17 (Robert Young), 97(Chalk Hill), 15, 6, 95, Dijon (musque) Harvested September 5, 2008 at 25° Brix Aged 11 months sur lie in 100% French Oak, 25% new, 75% twice filled Cooperage Damy Pere Et Fils — Meursault Stirred monthly on the lees for six months Alcohol 14.3%  ph 3.76  TA .60gms/100ml  RS .25 Tom & Brenda Lee Simoneau, growers & winemakers Margaret Davenport & David Herzberg, consulting winemakers $30, limited release of six barrels, 110 cases, 750ml
