Simon Hackett Grenache 'Old Vine' 2011
Simon Hackett doesn't mess about with the quality of his wines. He sources only the best fruit with which he makes sublime wines. His 'Old Vines' are ridiculously old, hence the unusualness of this wine. That 'oldness' enhances the structure and elegance of this Grenache. Curiously, the colour suggests a lot of age and development. Well it's not old, but it is developed! Fruit dominated with a sun drenched purity that fills the corners of your mouth. Whiffs of plump, summer sweet berries make this bright and up-beat Grenache a real winner. One of Hannibal's favourites -give it a go, this is worth every penny.
