What to Expect

Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

SonomaCounty’s Alexander Valley possesses the greatest diversity of soil types of any winegrowing region in California. Dramatic geological activity has created numerous soil types and microclimates allowing Simi Winery to select from a diverse range of vineyard sources for wines of distinct flavor, texture and character. Simi ReserveCabernet Sauvignon is created by keeping each vineyardblock separate throughout the winemaking process. Winemaker Steve Reeder selects the best vineyard lots for the final blend. The complexity of this wine is created not only from our vineyard sites, read more...

Editorial Reviews

Really good fruit on the nose at first, in a restrained style with lovely bay and vanilla tones adding complexity a little cigar wrapper as well. Overall a sweet, gentle herbal and slightly medicinal impression. Very smooth and suave at first with good fruit but also quite astringent tannins. Not particularly tannic but with a gritty edge to the tannins. Earthy and dark, with baked spice tones that compliment the red plum skin, apple skin, and wild berry fruit. This is a bit too woody with quite the spiced and vanilla toned finish that is very drying. The tannins need to mellow for this to show better. read more...

Leather and spice with cedar notes in the aroma. Red cherry taste with no finish and no acidity.

Winemaker Notes - The wine is deep red with crimson edges, with alluring notes of black berries, plum and lavender are accented with hints of spice and earthy tones. Bursts of rich dark fruit and cassis lend complexity to this full bodied...

A very woodsy, dry, dusty wine. Its quite elegant at first, but nice cherry and vanilla notes. Still needs to age.

Tasted at the Snooth PTP California Cab blind tasting:

Cherry and vanilla, very smooth, lack of finish. Almost too smooth for my taste, lacks edges and character.
