What to Expect
California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

For Cabernet Sauvignon, 1996 produced fruit with plenty of good color and excellent tannin ripeness. With this wine, we strive to craft the ultimate expression of Bordeaux varietals from Sonoma County. This wine exhibits a firm, smooth structure that carries rich notes of ripe black fruit, black cherries and berries, and fills the mouth with flavors of vanilla, cedar and spice. It has a long, rich, supple finish and an excellent aging potential.
Our 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep in color and rich in flavor. The wine has ripe blackberry and black cherry flavors with overtones of French and American oak giving further complexity. The wine combines the Classic Bordeaux varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc, but the Cabernet is the hallmark in the wine. The final blend (80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc) is velvety and supple in texture with a long, intense finish.
