A lot of what we do at Simi is based on tradition, enhanced with cutting-edge innovation. Our philosophy has always been to maintain the quality and style that we're recognized for, while at the same time improve our methods for growing grapes and crafting wines to reflect the experience and knowledge we are accumulating and have been throughout the winery's 125-year history. Long ago we also realized the importance of Alexander Valley and knew that it would be a leading appellation for growing Bordeaux varietals. Today we showcase the region with our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as our vineyard-designated Landslide Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1989 we purchased our Russian River Valley Goldfields Vineyard and planted it to hand-selected original cuttings from some of the best and oldest vineyards in California. This innovative technique gives us the amazing diversity of flavors that has made Simi's Russian River Reserve Chardonnay famous. Simi's unique vineyards are the genesis of our distinct wines. Our warm Alexander Valley Estate Vineyards are planted primarily to red Bordeaux varietals and are the source of Simi's Cabernet Sauvignon. These vineyards encompass nearly 600 acres and possess some of the most diverse soils of any wine-growing region, resulting from eons of geologic activity including a catastrophic landslide which changed the course of the Russian River. Complementing the Alexander Valley Vineyards, Simi's 120-acre Goldfields Vineyard in the Russian River Valley is the backbone of the Simi Chardonnay. Planted with a wide array of clones and field selections, Goldfields Vineyard is one of the most diverse vineyards in the Russian River Valley and all of California. With every taste of Simi wines you'll discover our devotion to tradition that is enhanced by our pursuit of the best vineyards, the best grape-growing methods, and the best winemaking techniques. Grassy/earthy scent. Flavors of tart lemon, a bit grassy, warm finish.

Aromas that remind me of bacon fat or baked chicken. Buttery with acidic citrus. Nice clean chardonnay for the price. I always seem to enjoy Simi wines

Appealing for its core of tasty peach, fig and nectarine flavors, which are supple and well-integrated.

There's lots of oak on top of a somewhat thin wine, but it's pleasant enough, with modest pineapple and peach flavors and dusty spices. Finishes quick, with oak flavors.

A junior version of the very fine Reserve, the '05 is ripe and forward in tropical fruit and flowery spice flavors, with an overlay of smoky, creamy oak. It's explosive, but balanced and controlled.

A little thin and herbal, but shows enough Chard character to accompany good shellfish or a chicken or veal dish. Modestly oaked, the wine has peach, tangerine, buttercream and smoky flavors.

A rich, concentrated style, with earthy tropical fruit, pineapple and yellow apple flavors accented by a pleasing spiciness. Drink now through 2008.

Herersquo;s a clean, steely Chardonnay with good varietal character. Itrsquo;s dry and crisp, with a creamy texture housing flavors of pineapple, vanilla and smoky oak. Nice with roast salmon, corn risotto or a simple broiled chicken.

A simple chardonnay oriented toward orange marmalade sweetness and buttery white cornmeal flavors of lees. Chill it for fish chowder.
