Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino Vigneto Manachiara 2007

Member Review by Eric Guido:

The nose showed sour red berries and sweet spice in a bittersweet performance. On the palate, red berries and herbs were on display, yet it came across one-dimensional and ultimately disappointing through the finish.

Black licorice, cola and cherry liqueur open the nose and segue to black currant and crème de cassis aromas, then forest floor, bramble and Spanish cedar. This wine is linear, crisp and tight on the palate, with firm tannins. Give the wine five more years to soften. - M.L. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 91 PointsCherry and plum fruit are enhanced by tobacco and black tea accents in this firm red. Leans toward drying tannins in the balance. Moderate length. Best from 2013 through 2020. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 25,000 cases made. BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 88 PointsThe 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty wine laced with dried cherries, crushed flowers, licorice and spices. The wines mid-weight structure and modest depth both suggest it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. - Robert Parker 88 PointsMedium cherry-red. Moderately ripe aromas of red cherry, menthol, herbs and flowers. Supple but a bit diffuse, showing decent sweetness but in need of a bit more intensity and depth. Finishes with a broad dusting of tannins and modest length. I don't find the flavor definition shown by this producer's 2006s. - Stephen Tanzer 87 Points
