Silverado Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2000

Member Review by cgplayer9:

Upon pulling the cork, there was the distinct aroma of a blueberry pie in the oven. In the glass, at first sniff, a bit of funkiness that blew off in about 15 minutes. Then nice aroma of blueberry/blackberry, almost floral, with hint of earthiness. On the palate, slow opening, but once open a very nice mix of dark berries with strawberry, forest floor, very subtle smokiness. Acid still fairly vibrant, tannins silky smooth. This had very nice juiciness, almost like a Jolly Rancher. Fairly long finish fruity, with the barest hint of smoke, meatiness and rich earth. At first I thought this was past its prime, but after fully opening up, this was a wonderful wine

Here, Silverado Vineyards has been quietly producing world-class wines from their state-of-the-art winery for over 20 years. With grapes sourced almost entirely from Silverado’s family-owned estate vineyards, these hand-crafted wines are created in small lots with extreme care. They express richness, elegance and age-worthiness. Silverado wines are unique - one-of-a-kind blends of location, philosophy and winemaking style. The Mediterranean-style stone winery, established in 1981, stands on a knoll above the Silverado Trail in the heart of the Stags Leap District. Silverado is a legendary name from the early mining days. Today it symbolizes the Miller family’s long term commitment to the future of Napa Valley wine. Read less

Firm and tightly wound, with intense fruit built around cherry, currant and wild berry, turning harmonious and elegant, with chewy tannins. Drink now through 2009. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 24,171 cases made. (JL) Wine Spectator. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2000 Silverado Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
