Delicious black cherry, spicy plum and blackberry flavors are well-centered, offering depth and richness and finishing with firm tannins wrapped around a core of mocha-laced oak. A solid value. Drink now through 2009.
Broad and rich aromas of black cherry, blueberry and sweet oak. Concentrated cassis and blackberry fruit meet licorice and cinnamon spices and vanilla on the palate. Rich, full mouthfeel with superb balance that continues through a lasting finish.
Beautiful Cabernet. Has all the big, ripe juicy fruit and lavish oak of most Napa Cabs, plus elegance and harmonious balance, the hallmarks of tasteful, knowledgeable winemaking. Gets better and more interesting as it warms in the glass. Hard to believe it's this good with the high case production.
Silverado flies under the radar, quietly producing opulent and balanced Cabernets while others get their 15 minutes. The '04 is riper and softer than previous vintages, with jammy blackberry, cherry, blueberry and smoky oak flavors, but it maintains balance and elegance. Drink now.
Ruby-red. Cassis, violet, bitter chocolate and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet but juicy and firm, with moderately intense flavors of dark berries, spices and chocolate. Finishes with fairly ripe, firm tannins and a slightly dusty quality.
With a little Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this wine is softer and more immediately approachable than Silverado's other current Cabs, although like them, it's fairly tannic. Rich in currant and cassis fruit, it's an elegant powerhouse.
The elegant 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) reveals notions of lead pencil shavings intermixed with black cherries, black currants, toast, and damp earth. It is a mid-weight, flavorful red with good acidity as well as a moderately long finish. It should keep for 7-10 years.
Dark cranberry in color with a hint of baking spices in the nose. At first sip there’s a sweetness of ripe plum with a touch of vanilla and oak. Finishes on the palate with focused acidity and ends with an explosion of fruit pie flavors.
