We pride ourselves on making one varietal that is food-friendly and deliciously drinkable upon release. Our story begins in the early 1970’s when Ray Duncan befriended winegrower Justin Meyer. The two formed a partnership and co-founded Silver Oak Cellars in 1972 with the bold vision of producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, under the leadership of Ray’s sons David and Tim and Director of Winemaking Daniel Baron, we produce two wines: our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak’s unwavering focus on making exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon enables us to continually improve and refine our craft. Each of our two estates – one in Napa Valley and the other in Alexander Valley – is dedicated to producing a single wine. These two Cabernet Sauvignons consistently reflect the very best of their appellations. Our estate vineyards are ideally situated to provide optimal growing conditions for our Cabernet Sauvignon. We also work closely with top independent growers throughout the Napa and Alexander Valleys to ensure a reliable source of excellent fruit. We complement this fruit with grapes from top independent growers throughout both appellations, giving our winemaking team the flexibility they need to realize the full potential of each Silver Oak vintage. Tasting Room Tasting rooms at both of our estates are open Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm.  We are closed  some holidays. Read less

Pre-Sale, will ship Wednesday August 9th. Because Silver Oak only produces Cabernet Sauvignon from California's two best Cabernet microclimates, their wines are consistently outstanding and complex, brimming with ripe cassis flavors, carefully seasoned with toasty new oak. Because of their long relationships with growers they are able to source the best possible fruit from prime vineyards throughout Alexander Valley. This wine, from the outstanding 2013 vintage in Alexander Valley is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. Blended in early 2014, the wine was then aged for 24 months in 50% new and 50% once-used American oak barrels from our Missouri cooperage, The Oak. Early blending assures a balanced core and allows the components to achieve a seamless harmony during barrel aging. After bottling in the spring of 2016, each bottled was aged an additional 15 months before being released in August of 2017. No ratings yet but we expect nothing but raves. This is a limited allocation so please don't miss your chance to grab this iconic Cab from a historic vintage.

BLENDING AND AGING: Our 2013 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. After bottling in the spring of 2016, each bottled was aged an additional 15 months before being released in August of 2017. VINTAGE DESCRIPTION: The Alexander Valley saw a relatively dry winter leading up to the 2013 growing season, with barely 20 inches of rain recorded. Though the season began early, significant frost never materialized. Summer was mild, with only a few days reaching triple digits. We harvested on a steady progression through the region, as neither heat spells nor threats of rain forced our hand. This allowed our winemaking team to pick when ripeness was in perfect balance. Drought conditions, coupled with low soil moisture and moderate temperatures during the summer and fall, created a vintage that will be remembered for structured and concentrated wines. Harvest in Alexander Valley took almost exactly a month, starting on September 11th and concluding on October 10th. Composition: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon 2% Merlot 2% Cabernet Franc 1% Malbec Alcohol: 13.9% ** Only 12 in Stock **
