Appellation: Alexander Valley
Vintage: 2001
Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Release Date: August 1, 2005
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes
The 2001 Alexander Valley has a medium ruby-red color and a nose of blackberry jam, violets, chocolate and nutmeg. It has a rich attack, a full mid-palate and an explosion of fruit in the finish. Tannins are still evolving, so this wine will continue to improve through 2026.

- Very enjoyable. Perfectly made Cabernet from Cali. Well integrated flavors of cherrys & sweet red fruits. This wine is made in a traditional way, non-fruit bomb. Nice to see traditional wine comming from Cali.

June 2007
- The 2001 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignons reveals a saturated ruby/purple color in addition to a lusty, sweet perfume of cassis, spice box, licorice, and lavender. The wine is ripe and medium to full-bodied, with low acidity, abundant glycerin, wood, and alcohol, and admirable texture as well as length. It will be at its finest between 2003-2014. -Wine Advocate 90-92 Points

- Excellent CA cab. Silver Oak's Alexander Valley wines are 100% Cab Sauvignon which is not the case with their Napa blend. This makes the wine a bit more focused in the mouth. Although there is plenty of fruit and oak, neither are overbearing.
