Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Our 2007 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon combines elegance and depth in a balanced expression of this classic California vintage. It has a dark ruby color with a garnet edge and a complex nose of sandalwood, cedar, cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate and roasted coffee. On the palate, it is extremely rich and mouth-coating and has a long finish of concentrated fruit and spice with a slight tannic grip. With proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2033. Our 2007 Napa Valley, a blend of wine from vineyards throughout the appellation, is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. We blended the vineyard lots in early 2008 and transferred the wine to 100% new American oak barrels for aging. Blending prior to barreling allows us to achieve a balance of the wine’s primary elements, such as fruit and tannin, before they are influenced by oak. The wine was then aged in barrel for approximately 25 months and another 20 months in bottle to harmonize its components before release.
Much improved over the '06 but still sadly over priced. Great structure and the tannins are riper in this vintage. Notes of currants and chocolate throughout. Still, there are much better Cabs out there for $60+ than this mass produced name.
One of my favorites. Always reliable and full-bodied Cabernet, and reasonably priced.

Still young, this Silver Oak will mellow over time. Strong flavors of black fruit and cedar, medium tannins and long finish. I'd suggest 2014 as the best time to pop one of these babies.

A look and a taste of this wine and you know yoursquo;re in the realm of the major leaguers. Itrsquo;s dramatically black-purple, and both aromas and flavors are packed with cassis and fine new oak, lavishly applied. Though rich indeed, itrsquo;s quite drinkable because tannins are soft. The wine was made in a fashion clearly meant to please the consumer, and I suspect to be a critic-pleaser as well.
A classic Alexander Valley cabernet, this is dark and cedary, and as smooth as velvet. The tannins last, built on black cherry skin flavor and earthy, root-vegetable notes. With time, that black cherry flavor should become more prominent, balancing the winersquo;s earthy complexities. It has a dark ruby color with a purple edge and an inviting nose of ripe black plum, blackberry, baking spices and soy sauce. On the palate, the wine is rich and full, reminiscent of the flavors of a berry cobbler. It has a long, fruity finish with fine grained tannins, and is a testament to exquisite ripeness at moderate alcohol.
Aromas of dill, macaroon and coconut fold in nicely with a rich band of currant, plum and black cherry fruit. Excellent structure, depth and concentration, ending with firm, chewy tannins. Best cellar short-term. Best from 2006 through 2012.
The Alexander Valley cuvee is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new oak. The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley offers abundant quantities of spice, vanillin, cedar, herbs, and smoke, soft, round, creamy-textured flavors, good black cherry and currant notes, and a spicy, medium-bodied, easy-going personality. Enjoy it over the next 7ndash;10 years.
The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley exhibits a deep, saturated ruby/purple color. The wine possesses aromas of sweet toasty oak, earth, spice box, cherries, and currants. It is a soft effort for this vintage. The wine has medium body, and good fruit and flavor. Drink it over the next 10ndash;12 years.
