Classic Silver Oak style, a wonderful addition to any Silver Oak vertical. - 88 pts from Robert Parker! - In keeping with the vintage, the pleasant 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec) is an elegant, somewhat one-dimensional, superficial effort with a dark ruby color as well as plum, read more...cedar, herb, and fruit notes intermixed with wood smoke and spice box. It will be drinkable upon release in 2009, and will probably require immediate consumption given its evolved, fast-track style. I tried the Napa and Alexander Cabs at a Silver Oak tasting, back to back. Both great, but I prefer the Alexander, personally. The nose on the Napa was amazing (orange peel, caramel) but it was less fruity and that somehow left the oak more exposed. It does have a great velvety texture.

Tasting Notes - This mature, well-built Napa Valley Cabernet is a luscious, deep brick-red color. Ripe black-cherry flavors and a cassis core, are nicely integrated with sappy French oak tannins.

Outstanding but it better be at the price. Not quite as good as the 2002 but still an excellent wine once it opens up.
