Winemaker's Notes Our 2008 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark, rich full-bodied wine with great tannic structure and mouth-feel. It has a garnet color and a nose of ripe boysenberries, cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, sandalwood and a hint of roasting meat. On the palate, it is mouth-coating and incredibly rich in umami. It has a very long, savory finish with the slight grip of fine-grained tannins. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2030.

Classic aromas of light dill, and even oregano, enmeshed in slightly charry Marshmallow vanilla oak. Under that blanket there are balanced and promising notes of bell pepper tinged red cherry fruit. In the mouth his is smooth and velvety with a sweet, easy character and good length to the somewhat simple toasty, black cherry fruit. There's a bit of raspy tannin on the finish but nothing offensive. A solid, if small scaled, bottle of Cabernet. 87pts
The nose has rich currant and dried balckberry flovors. A rich mouthfeel of ripe blackberry and very ripe cherry. a bit hot on the finish but that quickly disapears and finishes long with saddle and leather notes.
Much improved over the '06 but still sadly over priced. Great structure and the tannins are riper in this vintage. Notes of currants and chocolate throughout. Still, there are much better Cabs out there for $60+ than this mass produced name.
One of my favorites. Always reliable and full-bodied Cabernet, and reasonably priced.

Still young, this Silver Oak will mellow over time. Strong flavors of black fruit and cedar, medium tannins and long finish. I'd suggest 2014 as the best time to pop one of these babies.
This is a good bottle of wine. It is not very good or excellent. It is not worth the $70. I would say this is a $20 bottle of wine. Flavors are hidden and just a little bit of tannin. For $70 you would be able to get much better wine. It is a bit one dimensional. I am 87 point on this effort. Happy drinking!

Our 2010 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant, elegant expression of this classic appellation from a cooler vintage. It has a deep garnet color and an enticing nose of cassis liqueur, blueberry coulis, tobacco, tarragon and roasting coffee. The seamless palate starts with a berry-laden attack, follows with a full-bodied mid-palate, and ends with a long, savory finish with fine grained, well integrated tannins. Because Silver Oak only produces Cabernet Sauvignon from California's two best Cabernet microclimates, their wines are consistently outstanding and complex, brimming with ripe cassis flavors, carefully seasoned with toasty new oak. Because of their long relationships with growers they are able to source the best possible fruit from prime vineyards throughout Alexander Valley. They make this wine with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and they age it in 100% American oak barrels, 50% new for 24 months. The Silver Oak signature of course is then aging the wine in bottle for a full 15 months before release, giving the time it needs to round out and come together, so when you pull the cork you can enjoy the full experience. This 2010 Alexander Valley bottling is full-bodied and ultra-ripe and may be one of their best ever. Supple, elegant and densely flavored. with ripe berry and dark cocoa nuances. Don't miss it.
87% cabernet sauvignon and the balance merlot aged in two-thirds new French oak for twenty months. Inky core to a hazy purple rim. The nose is reticent at this stage with hints of juicy black cherry and chocolate. On the palate it is very rich and seamless but retains piercing acidity that helps the whole thing stay vibrant. Very rewarding and enjoyable now this has a finish that won't quit. It just needs some time in the cellar to get all the parts together. Revisit in 2015 and enjoy for the following decade or more. This is a heavy-duty Cabernet, big in every way, with rich black cherry and cassis fruit, and dense, dark tannins. The long, slightly grainy finish reinforces the impression of raw power, yet the wine retains perfect proportion and is nicely differentiated from the other 2010s crafted by winemaker Chris Figgins.
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot that spent 20 months in 67% new French oak. Classic Cabernet on the nose, with gorgeous creme de cassis, raspberry ganache, lead pencil shavings and hints of flowers, it is rich, concentrated and decadent on the palate, yet has brilliant purity, a weightless, elegant texture and knockout polish to its tannin. Already approachable due to its balance and overall seamlessness, this full-bodied effort can be consumed now and over the coming 10–15 years. 2,000 cases made. Drink now–2025+.
A swarm of fine tannins are wound around a plush core of black cherry, pomegranate and red pepper in this firm red, persisting impressively on the extended, coffee-inflected finish. Needs time in the cellar to unfold. Best after 2015.
Bright ruby-red. Vibrant nose offers cassis, blackberry, Baker’s chocolate, minerals, violet and licorice. Polished on entry, then juicy and intense in the middle, offering pristine dark berry and spice flavors framed by penetrating acidity. Higher-pitched than the 2009; lovely cooler-year definition and energy here. Finishes with serious but fine-grained tannins and sneaky persistence. Potentially the best release yet from Doubleback, and balanced to age.
