Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon(1999)

Wine.com
June 2007
The 1999 Silver Oak Alexander Valley is a classic, rich Cabernet Sauvignon with a dark, ruby color and a complex nose of cassis, blueberries, cherries, nutmeg, chocolate and sandalwood. It is luscious and full-bodied on the palate and has a long, fruit-laden finish reminiscent of licorice.

More red in color, this wine had intense aromas and flavors of currants and red berries, crushed flowers, hints of peppermint, tobacco and vanilla. Long finish. A lot of young fruit but very approachable soft tannins and velvety feel. Outstanding balance of fruit, acid and alcohol. I didn’t find it had as many nuances of flavor as the Napa offering but was more pleasurable to drink. I found this was my favorite of the two Silver Oak offerings, perhaps because it was more approachable.

Fruit-forward, yet not overwhelming. Saturated with soft berry, spice, round body. Absolutely delicious! Nice tannins finish off this lovely wine.
