We pride ourselves on making one varietal that is food-friendly and deliciously drinkable upon release. Our story begins in the early 1970’s when Ray Duncan befriended winegrower Justin Meyer. The two formed a partnership and co-founded Silver Oak Cellars in 1972 with the bold vision of producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, under the leadership of Ray’s sons David and Tim and Director of Winemaking Daniel Baron, we produce two wines: our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak’s unwavering focus on making exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon enables us to continually improve and refine our craft. Each of our two estates – one in Napa Valley and the other in Alexander Valley – is dedicated to producing a single wine. These two Cabernet Sauvignons consistently reflect the very best of their appellations. Our estate vineyards are ideally situated to provide optimal growing conditions for our Cabernet Sauvignon. We also work closely with top independent growers throughout the Napa and Alexander Valleys to ensure a reliable source of excellent fruit. We complement this fruit with grapes from top independent growers throughout both appellations, giving our winemaking team the flexibility they need to realize the full potential of each Silver Oak vintage. Tasting Room Tasting rooms at both of our estates are open Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm.  We are closed  some holidays. Read less

Many will rate the Napa Valley Silver Oak higher than Alexander Valley. For those that like an earthier Cabernet Savignon, whose nose makes you feel like you are right there in the vineyard, you cannot find a better wine than Silver Oak. It cellars well and the 1997 is spectacular....a good year the world over. I keep a fair amount in the cellar waiting for special occasions. Silver Oak has never let me down.

My wife and I opened a bottle of '97 Alexander valley and compared it with a '97 Kenwood Artist Seires and both were spectacular. This was our kick off to Spring treat! The Silver Oak was well balanced, deep purple and very vibrant in colour and wonderful nose of cherry and other fruits. Tastes of cherry, chickory, leather, mild spice and plenty more tanin to go the full stretch to 2022. This was well worth cellaring for the last 10 years and so satisfying... enjoy.

I love any wine from this area. The fog that rolls in makes these wines so good. So good.

...Classic California cabernet aromas of blackcurrant, tar and menthol. Began slightly lean and herbaceous but seemed to put on weight and gain in texture as it opened in the glass.
