Toasty, oily, and rich with the savory aromatics of old wood. This is deep and tarry on the nose with plenty of mineral, accents to the core of smoky confiture of black cherry with pomegranate and mulberry accents on the nose. Rich, oily and deep on the palate as well, this is made in a muscular style that shows off its power in a rather tense, bright way. The mid-palate shows off classic black currant fruit with subtle hints of herbs and a touch of refreshing fresh chile which leads to a finish that is dry and firm and shows off hickory smoked, cedary wood in a rather big way. The wood is not sweet though, and the fruit manages to cover the oak right through the spicy, nutty finale. 92pts
Dark and sounds cliché, but has a typical Stag's Leap District nose. Black currant and other black fruits. Dark berry. Has a dry entry but opens to mouth watering cassis and black plum flavors. Touch of green herb on the finish which detracted me a bit. Fleshy, but nice. Dry finish. Big wine. Decant or lay down. 86 pts. 5/8/13 at winery
Chocolate and blackberry nose with just a touch of sweet cream. Some coffee, chocolate and blueberry in the mouth with a soft, creamy texture - almost like a cordial but without the coarse sweetness. A long, pleasing finish. An excellent expression of Napa Cabernet and good value. Tasted at the 2010 Vancouver International Wine Festival.
Drank this while watching the series finale of LOST. Pure deliciousness. Needed some air time but to tell you the truth, I was pre-occupied so I can't really give this the review it deserves. Went incredible with a steak.
This 2004 California Cabernet is distinct and expressive, rich and well balanced with a show-off finish of supple tannins. The mature colors of red, dark purple and garnet set the stage for aromas of spice, cocoa and vanilla bean that lead to deep, velvety flavors of black currant, kirsch and hints of cedar. The lush palate continues with surprises of ripe cassis and spice. Share it now or cellar 'till 2015 Ideally you want to share and enjoy this with the best of friends, your better half or family, but it's also great with cheese like 'Parano' or 'Grana Padano', a Filet Mignon, NY Strip or lamb.
