Signe Vignerons Domaine Romany Beaujolais 2009
Bruno Romany and his son Fabien own a 20 hectares domain in Bully, in southern Beaujolais. They work the vineyards under very strict rules which imply traceability from the vines to the wine, and a moderate output per hectare. They strive to grow their vines with sustainable farming methods, in order to protect the soil’s natural balance, the terroir and the vines. In 2007 they applied for the Terra Vitis label, under which the grapes must be grown using biodynamics farming methods. This Domain Romany Beaujolais is deep ruby red in colour with hints of blackcurrant, strawberries and lots of floral notes on the nose. The mouth is well balanced with a tannic finish which blends well with the aromas on the palate.
Signé Vignerons is the 1st Beaujolais wines producer. Wines are produced in 2 locations, both within the vineyards: Bully (since 1959) and Quincié (since 1928). We have wines from all Beaujolais areas and appellations: Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, and the Crus. We produce mainly red wines, but also white, rosé and sparkling wines.

Gamay Noir is now known to be a cross of Pinot Noir and the ancient white variety Gouais, the latter a Central European variety that was probably introduced to northeastern France by the Romans. In contrast to Pinot Noir, Gamay ripens two weeks earlier and is less difficult to cultivate. An abundance of strawberries, coupled with zingy acidity and backed by firm structure, makes this wine very pleasant in its youth. The color is deep purple and the nose shows intense fruit with spicy, ripe aromas. The wine has soft tannins and is perfect for pairing with baked ham or roast turkey breast.
