Siduri Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 Siduri Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a plush wine, full of ripe plum, blackberry and currant fruit that's intense, concentrated, and spicy. Certainly this wine should age well for a few years but we feel this is one of our more immediate appellation wines and should make compelling drinking in the near term.

Siduri started more than 15 years ago in our native Texas. At the time it was a dream shared by two wine geeks (us!) who wanted nothing more than to move to California and make killer Pinot Noir from the finest vineyards we could find. Today that dream is a reality. In 2004 Siduri celebrated its 10 year anniversary. We can hardly believe it, but between two wine labels (Siduri and sister label Novy Family Wines) and three beautiful children, we are beyond blessed and beyond busy! With our small but tireless crew we produce over 25 different Pinot Noir wines each year, representing the largest Pinot Noir focus of any California winery. We invite you to use this site to learn more about our wines, winemaking, and vineyards as well as to access our online tasting notes. To receive information directly from the winery on special wine offerings, events and tastings, please take a moment to join our mailing list. Next time your travels take you to the wine country, be sure to give us a call. We would be delighted to have you visit the winery for a personal tour and tasting. Thanks again for your interest in Siduri. We love what we do and enjoy the opportunity to share with others. Adam & Dianna Lee Read less

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Pale red outer ring with a gradual shift to a brick red colored center. Clear through to center. Scents of a forest after a rainy day and a hint of raspberries soaked in alcohol. A gentle tingle from the acids up front followed by a long smooth finish. Berries and oak from beginning to end.

from 2 Days per Bottle. This smells terrific. The nose starts a little bit earthy, but then adds black cherries, raspberries, and some spices, dill and sage. This is a nice mouthfull. The mouth-feel is silky smooth. Fruit is big and full, but not fruit-bombish or overpowering. Rich black cherry is balanced by some tart wild strawberries. Sage and a bit of dill fill out the attack. A bit of pepper joins on the mid-palate, and the finish lingers. This is good. This is really good. It is not a modern over-oaked vanilla caramel California disaster, nor is it a thin cherry cola and black tea Oregon why bother. It lacks the florals of a delicate Burgundy, but it is very well balanced, earthy, with fruit and spice. I can't guarantee this one will make it to Night Two, but I'll try. For you, I'll try.Nope. Didn't make it. Sorry.

Lovers of lean Burgundies will probably find this fruit bomb out of their comfort zone, but it is a major winner for lovers of pure, fruit-dominated, beautifully extracted California Pinot Noir. From a vineyard located near Sebastopol (but in the Sonoma Coast rather than Russian River appellation), it is soft as velvet yet deep and long and possessed of terrific fruit density - more sweet dried cherry and plum than tart cherry or pomegranate. Yet there is no sense of over-ripeness or hotness or clumsiness in this wine whatsoever. It's wonderfully balanced and fills out all the nooks and crannies in the taste buds with ripe fruit and complex musky/earthy/smoky notes.

Full bodied but not overpowering. Has a smooth finish with god complexity in between.

Enticing loamy earth, dried currant and black cherry fruit is supple and elegant, medium- to full-bodied. Complex and layered, ending with caressing tannins and a long finish. Drink now through 2014.

Exhibiting a deeper ruby color as well as more incense, earth, black cherry, and cranberry notes, the 2007 Pinot Noir Sonatera Vineyard possesses medium body, excellent depth, sweet tannin, and decent acidity. It is best drunk over the next 4–5 years.
