Editorial Reviews for Siduri Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast Terra di Promissio Vineyard
From magnum: Smoky, dark fruit greets the nose with undertones of grilled meat and cherries topped with some fading oak and a touch of minty, bay leaf spice. This is rather large scaled for Pinot, still showing a relatively heavy load of tannins, but the underlying fruit is red berried and still holding on with a lovely sweetness on the finish which shows a touch of wood tannin and a hint of alcoholic warmth. Nicely spicy, this is at peak and I don't see it improving from here. 88pts
Slightly brownish tint makes me fear oxidation. Nose is a tad earthy, maybe mushroomy. Very pinot noirish on the tip of the tongue--medium weight, lots of cherries. Fairly satisfying as it moves across the palate, but not complicated at all. A touch of tannin pucker, but, thankfully, no indication of oxidation that I feared. US39.99 from Wine Club in 2008.

Wine Enthusiast ReviewA good example of the principle that you get what you pay for, this regional Pinot is almost as good as Siduris Rosellas Vineyard botting. Its dry, crisp and silky, with delicious cola, cherry, vanilla and cinnamon spice flavors. It lacks the concentration of the single-vineyard Pinot, but is beautiful now.Wine Tasting NotesThe Siduri Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a superb example of what we are trying to accomplish with our appellation blends. It has great immediate appeal and, although it might not make old bones, its forward fruit and enticing character makes it hard to resist right now.
The 2009 was a breeze compared to the challenges of 2008. A long, cool, even keeled growing season was perfect for getting all of our Russian River vineyards to ripen evenly. To produce outstanding 2008 Russian River Pinots we spent a lot of time selecting the best lots to build a superb Russian River blend. This proved to be some work, but after much trial and error (doing all that tasting can be rough) we settled on a blend that is 33% Keefer Ranch, 33% Pratt Forestville Vineyard, 16% Sapphire Hill, and 17% Ewald Vineyard Pinot Noir. This wine is also a blend of many different clones, including Dijon Selections 114, 115, 667, and 777 along with Pommard, Wadensweil, and Clone 23. The hope, of course, is that this combination of components produces a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts. We feel very confident that the 2009 Siduri Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is superior to what we believed was a fantastic 2008 blend simply because the vintage is so much better. The wine simply shows a bit more of everything, with typical Russian River flavors of cola, bing cherry and spice, along with great richness of black cherry and raspberry fruits, and a mouth filling, velvet texture. This wine is definitely ready to go right now, and should make superb drinking over the holiday season, but it should improve as well for two or more years.
