Siduri Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Ewald Vineyard(2005)

Ewald Vineyard was a new source for us in 2004. The vineyard is located a stone’s throw away from two legendary vineyards: Dehlinger and Kistler. With neighbors like that, who wouldn’t want to move into the neighborhood? 2005 was a hallmark vintage for RRV with a long, cool growing season and no heat spikes, which produced a more tightly focused wine that went beyond the normal Bing cherry, and cedar notes, offering complexity with layers of earthiness and underbrush. On the palate, the wine offers up strawberries and raspberries lightly touched with a hint of vanilla framed by silky tannins.read more...

Tasted from the single half-barrel at Siduri June 23, 2006 with Cellarmaster, Tim Lesko. Over a period of four weeks since the auction tasting, the wine has continued to concentrate the captivating aromas and flavors that made it so alluring. The wine is red garnet in color. Aromas of cola, orange peel, licorice, slate, mineral, blueberry on the nose. Rich and focused on the palate with black cherry, creamy hints of blue fruits, a touch of tar, but elegant length to the palate. An ethereal finish with a touch of oak.
