Shiraz Barossa Shotfire 2005
Deep red in colour. The lifted nose has ripe rasberries and anise, with choc mint oak characters. The palate is full bodied with fantastic berry fruit, plums, liquorice and complexing oak. There is a great depth of fruit with savoury oak and mouth coating tannins. The fruit, oak and tannins all combine to give the wine great length of fl avour. This wine drinks well now and will age up to 7 years.
The Shotfire brings what I like about Aussie shirazes - luscious fruit forwardness, added complexity of different layers of varying flavors.. pepper, vanilla, slight oak, and MOCHA... I am a sucker for that mocha component in shirazes. It has more tannins than the run-of-the mill ones I've had, which I like. There's still a bit of heat at the back, but this is also an '06 and I presume this wil smooth out as the years pass. Yummy!... makes you want to go for that next sip sooner than usual.
This is a smooth one...taste is refined and deep. Love it at an unbelievable price. The best Aussie bang for the buck that I've found since moving to Queensland in 2005.
Very dark and smooth. Tasted at Geneva wine tasting 4/18/2010.
Enjoyed this wine. rasberry, plum, chocolate
Liquid rasberry tootsie roll velvet pootie tang!
