Shinding White Blend 2011
Shindig is the brainchild of Sommelier Andrew Stover of Washington, DC's OYA, SEI and Sax Restaurants. Stover launched the Shindig line of wines in 2009 with a focus on high quality, small production selections that highlight emerging American wine regions while being under $20 retail per bottle. For Shindig White, Stover partnered with Alie Shaper, President and Winemaker of Brooklyn Oenology, a microNwinery and tasting bar based in Brooklyn, New York. Vidal Blanc is a successful French-American hybrid variety developed in the 1930s by French breeder Jean Louis Vidal, primarily for the production of Cognac in the Charente region of France. Vidal is naturally high in both sugar and acidity and is suited to sweeter dessert style wines. The grape is also extremely winter hardy and can be found widely throughout the eastern United States and Canada. Tough outer skins also make it a prime candidate for late harvested ice wines. ZESTY! Crisp! The perfect sushi and ceviche sipper. SHINDIG White is a fresh blend of Vidal Blanc and Riesling and reminiscent of the great wines from the Basque Region of Spain or Italian Pinot Grigio. Amazing with raw oysters and other raw seafood.
Brooklyn Oenology is a wine company headquartered in Greenpoint Brooklyn. We produce our wines on Long Island from local fruit, and feature Brooklyn artists on our labels to embody the artisanal spirit of our borough.
