Shaw and Smith Shiraz 2006

This is one of the best! Not quite as good as the 2004 (for my taste) but for anyone that enjoys a big, bold, dark, smooth and smokey Shiraz then this is one of the best you can get. A classic Aussie drop, and still has years to go before it hits its peak! Lovely stuff!

Varietal 100% Shiraz Closure Screw Cap Size 750ml Alc/Vol 14% Enjoy Now - 2018 The Adelaide Hills has now proven it can produce truly exciting spicy Shiraz. The key is careful site selection- low-yields and restrained use of oak. This wine is produce from a blend of fruit from the warmer- drier parts of the Adelaide Hills around Macclesfield and Balhannah near the Shaw & Smith winery. 2006 was a very cool and dry vintage. Shiraz ripened slowly and evenly and was hand harvested later than usual- with intense colour- pepper-spice flavours and well balanced sugar and acid levels. The colour of read more...this wine is deep red. The wine displays distinctive violets- pepper and spice characters. It is rich- ripe and juicy- yet elegant. It is similar to the highly regarded 2005 vintage but perhaps shows a little more concentration. While approachable now- it has the concentration and structure to develop fine tertiary characters in bottle over the next 10 years.
