Shafer Vineyards One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Stags Leap District 2014

External Review by We Speak Wine:

One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon: One Point Five is an elegant, silky Cabernet Sauvignon with soft tannins and abundant fruit that is approachable when young, yet capable of aging gracefully. This wine reflects the climate and soils of our Stags Leap District vineyard sites and Shafer’s commitment to meticulous, sustainable farming and quality winemaking. Winemaker’s Comments: “From the moment you pull the cork on this vintage rich, tantalizing aromas fill the air with blackberry, black licorice, spice, rose petal, and cinnamon, leading to a lush, full-bodied wine offering juicy flavors of black and red plum, summer berries, pie crust, baked rhubarb, cinnamon, and warm briar jam in a seamless package of ripe, welcoming tannins and a long, vibrant finish.” — Elias Fernandez Vineyard Locations: Predominately from two Stags Leap District sites — Shafer’s hillside estate vineyard and “Borderline” vineyard located about two miles south of the winery. The 2014 Growing Season: This was the third in a string of warm, sun-soaked vintages from spring through early autumn. The consistency of daytime heat and evening coolness created a model growing season in which we harvested fruit with abundant color and concentration, along with enticing, rich aromatics. Varietal Composition: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Merlot 1% Malbec 1% Petit Verdot Cooperage: 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels (Allier & Tronçais) Alcohol: 15.3% ** Only 10 in Stock **
