Shafer Vineyards One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Stags Leap District 2012

External Review by We Speak Wine:

One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon: One Point Five is an elegant, silky Cabernet Sauvignon with soft tannins and abundant fruit that is approachable when young, yet capable of aging gracefully. This wine reflects the climate and soils of our Stags Leap District vineyard sites and Shafer’s commitment to meticulous, sustainable farming and quality winemaking. Winemaker’s Comments: Striking an enticing balance between liveliness and density, this vintage offers plush, round aromas of dark fruit and herbs followed by a mouth-filling blend of blackberry, black cherry, balsamic-infused strawberry, blueberry, cassis, herbs, and mocha. The whole package bears the stamp of Stags Leap District with ripe, easy-to-love tannins and a long, complete finish. — Elias Fernandez Shafer Vineyards: Shafer Vineyards is a 32,000-case winery in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District managed by the father and son team of John and Doug Shafer. The Shafers own and farm 200 acres of vineyards, sources for Shafer’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah. Vineyard Locations: Predominately from two Stags Leap District sites — Shafer’s hillside estate vineyard and “Borderline” vineyard located about two miles south of the winery. The 2012 Growing Season: This was a classic Napa Valley vintage filled with warm, sunny days and perfect, chilly nights from spring through early autumn. The consistency of heat and coolness created a model growing season in which we harvested fruit at ideal ripeness brimming with rich color and flavor. Varietal Composition: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon 4% Malbec 1% Petit Verdot Cooperage: 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels (Allier & Vosage) Alcohol: 15.5% ** Only 1 in Stock **
