Aromas of warm black fruit, cedar, chocolate, and dried herbs, followed by rich, juicy flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate, and tobacco, with a nice long finish. The tannins are ripe and supple.

Mocha, tar, spices and tobacco all flow from the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five. A rich, intense wine, the 2010 impresses for its depth and sheer power. This is far from an easygoing Cabernet. I imagine the 2010 might still be going strong at... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. This 2004 vintage is inky and very opaque garnet in the glass and has a bright, sumptuous nose of cherries and cola. With a smooth and satiny mouth feel and great balance and weight, this Cabernet has a slight sweetness to it enhancing the flavors of cherry and tobacco on a supple bed of tannins that lead into a nice finish with a hint of spice and herbs.

An excellent way to sample this new release! Lots of industry talk about the 2010 vintage for Napa, and Shafer Cabernet One Point Five is a shining example of how great this vintage will be. Layered and structured, with intense concentrated aromatics and powerful tannins.

Intense and concentrated this red is typically rustic tilting toward dark berry and cedar with gripping gutsy tannins that should appeal to those who like to chew on their wines. Best from 2014 through 2022. J.L. Wine Spectator.

Winemaker's Notes:

Enticing aromas of crushed red and black berries fill the glass along with more delicate layers of sage, vanilla, cedar, and tobacco leaf. In the mouth the herbs and fruit are nicely integrated within a structure of ripe Stags Leap District tannins. The finish is lingering and pleasurable, inviting another taste.
