This is a wonderful wine! I have really come to admire the wines from Shafer. This Cab is very versatile in that you can drink it now and really enjoy it or you can lay it down for a few years and see what some bottle age will do. Enjoy! Cheers!

There are approximately 9,000 cases of the Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five Stags Leap. The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2006 offers delicious red currant and black cherry fruit interwoven with notions of loamy soil and spring flowers. It is an elegant, stylish effort to enjoy over the next 10-15 years.

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 90The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five (99% Cabernet and 1% Petit Verdot) is a meatier, more structured wine, but slightly deeper than the 2004, with broad black currant fruit flavors intermixed with some spice box, crushed rock, and spring flowers. It is characteristic of Stags Leap in its elegance and finesse. The wine has good acidity and freshness, but is long and seamless. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.Wine Tasting NotesAromas of black, chewy fruit, cedar, chocolate, and dried herbs, followed by a seamless balance of rich, juicy flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate, and tobacco, with a nice long finish. The tannins are ripe and supple.

Bright, medium ruby-red. Expressive, rather wild nose melds cassis, black cherry, tobacco, iron, mocha, leather and brown spices. A bit less plump than the 2005 version, but suave and vinous, with good cut and life to the varietally typical flavors of currant, leather, mocha and tobacco leaf. This slightly restrained, soil-driven wine still needs time to unwind and will merit a higher score if time brings more pliancy. Finishes with form, building tannins and sneaky length.

Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with 1% Petite Verdot, this big, tannic wine may well age, but right now it's a bit disjointed. Shows candied flavors of cherries, plums, chocolate and herbs, with smoky caramel from new oak. Gets better in the glass as it breathes. Try after 2010.

94 Points - Wine & Spirits"In the 2004 vintage, the Shafers replaced their Napa Valley Cabernet with One Point Five...The texture, that signal aspect of SLD fruit, is layered and as rich as French roast coffee, with an underlying tension that keeps the vine focused on high-toned red fruit, dark earth and violet scents. It's powerful and guarded when first poured, growing sleek and classical with a day of air. This should drink increasingly well over the next ten years." (May/June '0990 Points - Wine Enthusiast"Sourced primarily from two Stags Leap Districts - the famed Hillside estate and the Borderline vineyard - this generation-and-a-half idea is a great selection for Shafer lovers who might not be able to indulge in the Hillside Select (or can't get their hands on a bottle). Sweet blackberry, plum and current fruit aromas and flavors are complemented by nuances of savory herbs, cocoa and cigar box (complete with cigars!."

Good medium ruby. Ripe, expressive aromas of black raspberry, currant, dark chocolate, sassafras, cedar, tobacco and spices. Sweet, dense and supple; at once full and nicely focused, with dark flavors of black raspberry, mulberry and spicy oak. Finis... Stephen Tanzer. Vintage: 2004 03/24/2009

The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is a combination of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. It reveals all the elegance and classicism one expects from the Stags Leap District along with beautifully sweet cherry and black currant fruit, flower, spice box, and mineral-like notes. Medium-bodied and pure with terrific intensity and a degree of opulence characteristic of the vintage, it can be consumed over the next 10-12 years.
