From a modest beginning of 1,000 cases in 1978, the winery has grown steadily until reaching its present size of 32,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sangiovese and Syrah. Today Shafer wines are available in major markets nationwide and in many foreign markets.
This is one of the most amazing Cabernets available. It bursts with flavor!! The wine has has real staying power - the flavor lasts for 90 seconds. Subtle flavors include currant, berry with a smooth glycerin finish.
This wine was a monolithic beast. It showed a wall of oak that never really dissapated. Hard to get a read for a few reasons. (Fifth of the night w/3+ drinkers). Needs a ton of time.
Smooth. Had in Hong Kong

Wine Advocate ReviewThe 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc) exhibits aromas of toasty oak, black cherries, currants, smoke, and minerals. This sweet, medium to full-bodied, pure, and elegant offering will provide lovely drinking over the next 10-12 years.
