Seven Stones Winery Red Bordeaux Blend Similkameen Valley Vqa Meritage Standing Rock 2006

Member Review by zufrieden:

This Bordeaux blend (predominantly Merlot - but not to Right Bank proportions) is a nice, appealing apple-brick color with a good, earthy - if slightly wild - nose. Both flavor and scent evoke characteristics of a decent Bordeaux Superieur with a little fresh tobacco, leafy earth, plum pudding and a few streaks of tannin. A very creditable effort for drinking now or in another 2 years tops.

The name Seven Stones comes from the legend of the seven individual rock formations throughout the Similkameen Valley known as The Seven Stones. Our passion for good wine and sharing with friends is our inspiration. Seven Stones Winery cultivates 20 acres of bench land overlooking British Columbia's spectacular Similkameen River Valley. In 2000 and 2001 the estate vineyard was planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and followed up with a new planting last year of Petit Verdot. Co- proprietors Vivianne and George Hanson have developed a solid reputation for growing and selling exceptional quality fruit from the site. The wine style George Hanson has created captures this amazing terroir and makes for serious, complex wines needing serious attention. Read less
