A blend of cabernet sauvignon (73 percent), alicante and petit verdot, this wine has a deep black color with a luminous rim, predicting the intensity of its fresh black cherry flavor. That fruit turns darker in the finish, a luscious plummy flavor that lasts along with the polish and perfume of oak. It feels finely balanced and complete, lovely to drink in the simplicity of its youth; it will reward several years of aging.
Blackberry, ripe strawberry and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, with caressing tannins and a fresh finish. Polished and delicious. Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante and Petit Verdot. Best after 2009.
Sette Pontirsquo;s 2004 Poggio al Lupo is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Alicante and Petit Verdot made at the wineryrsquo;s Maremma property of the same name. It presents a pretty, floral nose along with expressive, vibrant sweet dark fruit, showing excellent concentration and good underlying structure. The presence of slightly astringent tannins on the finish keep the score from going higher. Anticipated maturity: 2007ndash;2015.
