Serra da Estrela Rias Baixas 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The small DO of Rias Baixas situated in Galicia in the north-west of Spain is home to the variety of Albarino, one of the most sought after white varieties in Spain. The Condado area has an Atlantic climate, as has the rest of the D.O. Rías Baixas area, it has high rainfall and a moderate temperature between a maximum of 30° and minimum 0°C. A pale yellow wine with green reflections and steely shades of great transparency. Care in the vineyard has produced this wine´s surprisingly intense, aromatic richness with hints of apricot and pear and ripe exotic fruits, complemented by a lemon-lime vibrancy, all perfectly blended together with is subtle flowery scent. In the mouth Serra da Estrela is ripe and fruity, elegant and long lasting. Albarino is the perfect accompaniment to fish and seafood.

A bit waxy on the nose with some lightly advanced aromas of dried citrus peel and pressed flowers. Bright on entry with vivid acidity and nice if subtle flavors of dried peach and citrus with a faint dusty earth tone. The finish is a bit brief and subtle, with a gentle herbal edge. 85pts
