What to Expect

Sauvignon Blanc has a long history in France, and is even one of the parents of the most famous grape of all, Cabernet Sauvignon. Though having achieved high levels of acceptance and popularity in France, Sauvignon Blanc was more commonly associated with specific regions or villages, Pouilly Fume for example. With its arrival in new Zealand, and the country's ability to draw out a level of intensity from the grape, it was poised for bigger and better things. New Zealand's Sauvignon Blanc is often suggested as an alternative to Chardonnay. Its incredibly bright flavor, snappy acidity and fresh, easy feel are a perfect contrast to the rich, buttery full-bodied style of Chardonnay that is most popular. The citrus, pineapple and kiwi fruit tones most common in New Zealand's Sauvignon Blanc are paired with intensely green aromatics that recall gooseberries, freshly cut grass, and jalapenos, offering an unusual and unusually compelling blend of savory and sweet that has found a huge following.

yum! this wine is so tasty. i'm a big fan of all NZ Sauv Blancs, but this one was particularly fresh and snappy!

(and btw, for anyone not familiar with NZ Sauv Blancs, they are a great wine for newbies. everyone loves them!)

Pale, green-tinged yellow. Captivating aromas of lemon, lime and crushed stone, lifted by violet and jasmine. Densely packed but vibrant and high-pitched, with superb intensity and lift to the floral and mineral flavors. Finishes long and gripping, with an impression of weightlessness. This makes the overwhelming majority of Marlborough sauvignons seem strictly commercial by comparison. A lot of wine for the price. -International Wine Cellar This Sauvignon Blanc displays passionfruit and herbaceous characters on the nose with a flinty mineral complexity. This Sauvignon Blanc displays passionfruit and herbaceous characters on the nose with a flinty mineral complexity. The mouth feel is finely textured with tropical fruit, ripe gooseberry, and citrus with a slight creaminess and persistent acidity to draw out the palate. Drinking well now, but suggest drinking in 18 months. It will develop well over the next seven years showing great concentration with truffle and caramel characters.

A very good example of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, with more complexity, and greater length than the norm. Hand-harvesting, careful selection, and blending in 8% of Semillon makes the difference

This wine was smooth with a little bit of creaminess finish. It was a powerful combination of citrusy fruits, floral aroma, and berries. This wine was great for its price!
