Serenity Vineyards Pinot Grigio Central Coast Reserve 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Vintage: 2005 Size: 750ml Type: White Wine Country: United States Region: California Sub-Region: Central Coast Winery: Serentiy Vineyards Varietal: Pinot Grigio Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Trust your instincts. A few years ago, Mark Couchman was faced with a dilemma while deciding which varietals to plant in his Los Alamos Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Given the cool climate and the success that both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay had shown in this vineyard, extending these plantings would be a reasonable and sound business decision. However, Mark had the strong feeling that this site would produce Pinot Grigio grapes of exceptional quality and character, even though all of his colleagues scoffed at the very idea. Mark planted Pinot Grigio at Los Alamos Vineyard as well as Arroyo Loma Vineyard further north in Monterey County. The result, the 2005 Serenity Pinot Grigio, looks, well?visionary.

This is a Gold medal Wine Club Gold Series selection. Serenity 2005 Pinot Grigio is a terrific wine that offers a pleasing change from Chardonnay. Produced from fruit grown in cool climate vineyards in California’s coastal growing regions near Los Alamos and Monterey, the wine is fresh and fragrant. The 2005 Pinot Grigio won a Silver Medalat Jerry Mead’s New World Wine competition, and a Silver Medal at theNational Women’s Wine Competition. The color is a pale, light yellow, almost clear. Layers of yellow grapefruit, gooseberry, ripe kiwi, and Meyer lemon contribute to the bountiful bouquet. A medium-bodied, mouth-filling Pinot Grigio with flavors of key lime pie, melon, guava, and mango that prevail from the very beginning through to the impressively long finish for a white wine. The Serenity 2005 Pinot Grigio pairs perfectly with David Willey’s Veggie & Grigio Linguine, Pistachio crusted Tilapia with grilled vegetables, or a simple green garden salad. 100% Pinot Grigio. Enjoy now until 2010.
