User Reviews for Serafini & Vidotto Red Blend Il Rosso Dell'Abazia
Add your reviewFrancesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto are the masterminds behind this award winning winery. Both are passionate viticulturists with established track records. They graduated in the mid eighties and hired an estate owned by a local industrialist for their initial projects. Since then they have experimented constantly with different clones of vines, different planting densities and winemaking techniques. When the estate went to auction, they managed to acquire most of the vineyards they had been working with. Housed on the grounds of the Nervesa Abbey, which was largely destroyed in the First World War, the estate is located close enough to the sea to benefit from it’s cooling breezes. Monks had been making wine in this area since the 9th century, from which the Bianco and Rosso dell’Abazia derive their name. The Wine An intensely seductive Margaux style, incredibly rich and deeply concentrated wine and a very shrewd buy for Bordeaux aficionados looking for a wine that won’t break the bank. Tasting Note Masses of spice-infused blackcurrant and raspberry fruits load the palate to the limit. Medium-bodied with delicious silky tannins rounding things off with aplomb. Reviews The Rosso dell’Abazia has won the prestigious Italian Tre Bicchieri - Gambero Rosso award for the last six years in a row, and their 2000 vintage received 91 Parker points
