Sequoia Grove Chardonnay Carneros 2007
Very pale gold in color, this Burgundian-style chardonnay is the ideal balance of French restraint with California sunshine. The nose is delicate and steely, with notes of wet stone, honeysuckle, apricot, and almond. Ripe pear flavors come through in the aroma and on the palate, which is light and fresh with a creamy center of marzipan and a nutmeg, lemon flower finish. This is a very food friendly wine and will go well with most dishes, from appetizers to soups to main courses. Try it with a just picked spring lettuce and fresh herb salad, or with a mature, delicate brie cheese. This wine will get richer and evolve for at least five years.
There’s most definitely something special about life in the Grove. Is it the towering Sequoia trees that define the estate and inspired the name? Is it the atmosphere of unassuming sophistication? Is it our unique combination of award-winning wines (led by our signature Cabernet) created with an artisan spirit? It’s all of the above—and more. And it’s right here, waiting to be discovered.
A tasty wine, golden pear and crisp apples, vanilla and oak. It's quite acidic, which definitely freshens it up although the mouthfeel still tends towards a smooth and silky texture. Very oaky on the finish.
Excellent balance on the palate with a zesty pear-infused buttery honied tone giving way to a beady milky finish. Practically screams to be paired with food.
Lots of buttery, pear, grapefruit, and flotal notes. My wife really like this chardonay.
