Food Pairings for Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
This wine reminded me why I really love cab and why I don't drink cheap cabs! This one is a lot of wine for the money. Very flavorful, all the dark fruits one expects from a good cab, with a killer finish.

Drink 2012 - 2019
My wife and I love Sequoia Grove and 2007 is a prime example why.
This was one of three 2006 Napa cabs we opened for my 30th birthday. The other bottles were Pride Mountain and Larkmead Solari Reserve. All of the bottles decanted for three hours before serving. The Sequoia Grove is garnet in color with the rim showing just a slight amber hue. The nose was slightly astringent at first but then followed by bright cherry, raspberry and toast. In the mouth the wine is not heavy and just a touch drying, there is plenty of cherry and raspberry but also vanilla, tobacco and cedar. Nice balance between the tannins, acidity, and fruit. This bottle is a great bottle but scored third in our tasting.
This wine pours clear inky red color with some slightly lighter hues around the edges. Ample smells of cherries, cedar, tobacco, cloves and other spices. Starts off with a lot of red fruit, cherries mostly. In the middle, some all-spice and cedar balance out the fruit. This lasts throughout the whole rest of the tasting. A nice full-bodied red, nice balance. The tannins are still ample but not overpowering.

Dark black in color, the nose gives aromas of fresh raspberries and ripe, red cherries with notes of vanilla and cocoa powder. Background notes come through over time of roasted coffee bean and a touch of pencil lead.
Dark black in color, the nose gives aromas of red cherry and blackberries with sweet vanilla, nutmeg, and cigar box notes. The palate has a big, round silky arc with smooth tannins and impeccable balance. Flavors of blackberry and spice blend into a smoky finish.
Dark red-black in color with intense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and currants interwoven with burnt toast and tar. Additional layers on the nose of rich spice with added hints of vanilla and m
Pours an opaque, dark, inky red-black, with perfumed nose showing loads of ripe berry fruit, and a hint of cedar and spice. Flavors are deep, dense and impressively layered. Smooth yet tannic finish promises loads of cellar time. Excellantly structured wine, with amazing complexity.
93 Points - Wine Enthusiats This is a dark, big, deeply flavored Cabernet whose tannic structure strongly suggests mid- to long-term aging. Bone dry, it has flashy flavors of black currants, dark chocolate and cedar.
Wine Tasting NotesDeep garnet in color with aromas of sweet currants, dark chocolate, intense blackberry, clove, black pepper and a sprinkling of Rutherford dust. Full-bodied with firm, yet supple tannins and well-integrated acid. Grapes come from two sources, from vineyards managed by our well regarded growers in the Napa Valley and some from our own estate vineyards in Rutherford.
Dark red/black in color, the nose gives an immediate aroma of raspberries and warm baking spices, leading into cassis and clove. The palate has elements of pie crust, with smooth, silky tannins and well balanced acidity. Alcohol 14.2%. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 90 points by both James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast, which wrote: This is the winery's basic Cabernet Sauvignon, but it shows the depth and complexity of their more expensive bottlings. This really exemplifies Napa's rich, smooth tannins and dramatically ripe black currant, anise and dark chocolate flavors. The vineyards that contributed to the blend are some of the valley's best. It's a blend of all five classic Bordeaux varieties, with 1% Syrah.
