Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005

Sequoia Grove's 2005 Cab combines fruit from all over the Napa Valley, from St. Helena to the north all the way to the Atlas Peak hills in the southeast. The resulting wine is dark and concentrated, with a sweet and spicy bouquet of blackberries and currants kicked up a notch with peppery-cedary spice. The nose follows through onto the palate, which is lush and full. This is a great meat and potatoes wine or, for a more modern take, try it with domestic lamb with a cherry pan sauce.

WE 93pts. - According to the Wine Enthusiast: This is a dark, big, deeply flavored Cabernet whose tannic structure strongly suggests mid- to long-term aging. Bone dry, it has flashy flavors of black currants, dark chocolate and cedar. Very fine. Best 2010-2015, if not longer in a proper cellar. Tasting Notes - Deep garnet in color with aromas of ripe cherry and blackberry with a bit of mocha and cocoa. The fruit intertwines lovingly with the oak, hints of which can be found in aromas of clove, black pepper and spice. The palate is rich and bold but the tannins are soft and supple creating an endless read more...finish. The acid compliments the lushness of the fruit and gives structure and balance throughout the wine.    (hide)

My wife loves this wine!!! This wine has a nice nose that includes cedar, and dark berries. There is a good amount of fruit that is complemented by tart tannins. That is pleasantly bitter on the finish.

smooth blackberry goodness. some asian spice which is always nice. perfectly balanced with some cloudy, spicy oak. a hint of brussels sprouts on the back end which reminds me of a Chinon. would have gotten a perfect rating if it was $10 cheaper.

Full bodied, rich and fruit forward with generous aromas of blackberry, currant, and spice. Fine tannins and a bright acidic structure.
