Attention all California Merlot drinkers mdash; looking for something new? Irsquo;ve got the perfect wine for you: the 2005 Barahonda Monastrell form Spain! Produced from 100% Monastrell grapes, this luscious red is incredibly smooth, with a tantalizing, velvety mouthfeel and deep, generous body, reminiscent of some of the best Napa Merlots. Juicy blackberry, plum and black cherry in every sip. Open your mind and your heart to Spain, the not-so-secret value region that is taking the market by storm!

Vintage: 2005 01/04/2012

The 2005 Barahonda Tinto is almost as good. Produced from 100% Monastrell and raised in stainless steel, this dark ruby-colored wine has an attractive nose of forest floor, mineral, and blueberry. It has a supple palate-feel, sweet fruit, and excellent balance but it is just a bit more compact on the mid-palate and shorter on the finish than the Carro. Nevertheless, it is a superb value.
