What to Expect

Few white wines have achieved the fame that Riesling has in Germany. Its ability to produce a wide range of styles, from bone dry to lusciously sweet, in an even wider range of climates has made it the grape of Germany. Riesling in Germany can range from the steely, piercing wines of the Saar to the round, opulent peachy wines one typically finds in the Nahe and the Pfaltz. Every region is capable of producing both dry and sweet versions though there is a movement towards drier wines that has taken hold throughout many regions.

Exhibits a slate character driven by the vibrant structure and enhanced by peach and lime notes. It's all balanced and expressive, with a lingering aftertaste of spice and mineral. Drink now through 2030. 29 cases imported. –BS Wine Spectator. A Riesling wine from Mosel Saar Ruwer in Germany. 2006 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spatlese 750ml

Loaded with lemons and green apples with a little slate thrown in. Finishes with a near cloying tartness. Could shine with the right food pairing. Not recommended on it's own.

Riesling Spatlese Selbach Oster Mosel Saar Ruwer Half Bottle The Selbach-Oster Spatlese is creamy-textured and light to medium-bodied. Feminine and graceful, it seduces the taster with its lush pear and apple-flavored character. Anticipated maturity now-2014.

The vineyards of the middle Mosel owe their international acclaim to a combination of slate soil, southern exposure, and death-defying steepness. With steely minerality and a whiff of botrytis, this offering from Selbach-Oster delivers a mouthful of orchard fruit balanced by a healthy dose of acidity.
