Selaks White Blend Marlborough Ice Wine 2011
Selaks Premium Selection Ice is rich and luscious, with flavours of marmalade, dried apricots and honey. The palate has a slightly oily texture, with a seamless blend of concentrated fruit sweetness and crisp, clean acidity. Lingering on the palate, the finish is deliciously sweet and refreshing.
Not too viscous or syrupy. this could probably be confused in a blind tasting for a sweet riesling. woo-wee this is tasty with granny smith apple and pineapples for days. I haven't smelled this much petrol since the last Australian riesling I drank. That's what she said? Definitely not what I was expecting when I screwed the cap off.
Three and a half glasses
Balanced, rich, citrus. Nice mouthfeel. Apples and pears. Not too sweet, no raisin.
Great with fruit and nuts. Apple and honey on the nose. Big grapefruit on the palate. Crisp, intense, and not cloying.

The 2000 Ice Wine was fashioned using cryogenic extraction. (This entails placing the grapes in a freezer to mimic the freezing of the grapes' water, as happens naturally in German eisweins). It offers an explosive nose of tangy mangoes and minerals. This well-balanced wine coats the palate with red berry, tropical fruit, cherry, and spice flavors. Extremely sweet, it is not cloying, as the requisite acidity for maintaining focus and freshness are present. Drink this wine over the course of the next 6-8 years.
Sweet and generous with its apricot, spice and honey flavors that remain focused through the lingering finish. A gentle wine with deftly balanced sweetness. Drink now. Contains Riesling and Gewürztraminer.
The cassis and blackberry-scented 2003 Minervois Grande Tradition unleashes loads of lush, satin-textured dark fruits on the taster's palate. This wonderful value is packed with spicy blackberries, has excellent balance, admirable depth of fruit, and an impressive finish that displays herbs, spices, and considerable amounts of ripe tannin. It should be drunk over the next 5-6 years.A blend of 42% Riesling and 56% Gewurtztraminer, the spice and flower-scented 2003 Ice Wine Premium Selection required aeration to blow off its sulfur-marked nose. Light to medium-bodied, it offers a well-balanced core of apricots, white flowers, spices, and hints of rose water. This expressive, somewhat one-dimensional wine should be drunk over the next 8 years.
