Tobacco, rubber, and methol in the nose. Lots of black cherries in the body, with a light mildly acidic finish.
Love the brightness and minerality of blackberry and rhubarb balanced with coffee and berry seeds. Flavors are generous and rich. Think one will keep getting better and better over the next few years.
Lots of floral notes on the nose, sweet berries, chocolate, currant, vanilla, and caramel. Sweet on the tongue, lots of berries, semi-sweet chocolate, coffee and caramel with a bit of licorice. I am curious to try this with some spicy food as I think the firm tannins, balanced acidity and caramelize flavors will stand up well to the challenge. Lamb Curry anyone? wait wait, just tried it with semi-sweet dark chocolate and a volcano of berries is erupting in my mouth. Delicioso!
Winemaker's Notes:
Colour: Deep, red background with bluish hues throughout. Nose: Very expressive red fruit bouquet, specially ripe red cherry, with a nutty edge reminiscent of almonds and broken cherry bones. Medium bodied, with scant presence of the oak adding to the feeling of lightness and freshness it provides. Taste: Silky smooth, medium bodied, very fresh, well textured with no thoughs. The oak is hardly evident, with round, well integrated tannins, giving way to a lingering finish of seasoned red fruits that make it light and fresh. It showcases perfectly the quality of the 2009 vintage, in this case adding youth and freshness to the depth and ripeness of the seasoned fruit so prevalent in this vintage.
