Seghesio Home Ranch Zinfandel California-Napa Valley. United States 2007
Wine Tasting Notes Home Ranch is one of our earliest-ripening lots and also one of our best. Consistently, Home Ranch's shallow, non-fertile soils produce smaller-berried fruit packed with luscious, ripe blackberry/boysenberry flavor tones. Home Ranch's precision crafted varietal expression, Zin's acid presence and, of course, Old Vine's deeply rooted spicy/briery richness is impressionable. An exceptional effort from a special place! Salute!

This is my favorite Home Ranch Zinfandel yet, and that is saying something since it is, year in and year out, my favorite of the Seghesio Zins. Silky and refined yet powerful and classically structured, this wine is already sensational. Deep, ripe, spicy, lip-smacking berry, cassis, and plum fruit flavors cascade over the taste buds seamlessly from start to finish, and there's even a subtle lead-pencil component there for added complexity. Magnificent Zinfandel.
Nice tannins, medium bodied, spicy, smooth. Delicious.
