What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Built around a center of wild berry, black cherry and boysenberry, delivering a mouthful of fruit with light oak shadings and a long, luxurious finish that keeps repeating the berry themes. In the spirit of great grandfather, Edoardo, Home Ranch Zin lives on. These 103 year old, head trained vines have laid the foundation for our extensive plantings of zinfandel in the warm Alexander Valley. The shallow gravelly loam soils support vine growth that naturally produces an open canopy and evenly distributed fruit. This wine offers jammy, blackberry fruit, vintage specific black pepper and floral nuances and, of course, Zinfandel¹s signature brambly spiciness.
