Food Pairings for Seghesio Family Vineyards Zinfandel Sonoma County
This was rated #10 of the top 100 wines of 2008 by 'winedictator' (93 pts) .Rasberries and plums and light vanilla and strawberry candy. Complex , supple wine, starts with warm deep berry flavours, followed by a slightly alcholic burst of cherry/plum fruit and moderate tannins that lightly pluck at your cheeks. Finishes niicely with a faint peppery spice note that lingers. Keeps pace with zinfandels twice the price.
Excellent, truly - huge black cherry flavor - smooth as silk - it deserves the #10 spot for certain! One of my favorite Zins to date and the price, it cannot be beat! Do not miss this one!

I absolutely loved this one. Big, bold, and complex. This is pretty much my favorite wine right now.
Flat Out Amazing. Seghesio will never disappoint. They will impress even the biggest wine snob.
Balanced, opulent and smooth. Spice and red berries. Full bodied with a medium finish.
Licorice/salmiak and cocoa, dark fruit, with enough tannins and acidity to make this is very well balanced wine.

Terrific range of flavors, excellent balance and a wonderful sense of harmony. The mix of blackberry, black cherry, anise, sage and toast make this a most inviting wine. Not shy on muscle or tannic backbone, either, as it's quite chewy on the finish. Drink now through 2009.
Complex, full bodied, and layered is the 1999 Zinfandel Old Vine (15.3% alcohol). Exhibiting earthy, Rhône-like characteristics of crushed pepper and black cherries presented in a lusty, full-bodied format, it will drink well for 4-5 years.
Firm, tight and concentrated, with a rich beam of complex raspberry, blackberry, wild berry and floral scents and flavors, yet it has a great backbone of acidity and tannina, and the flavors push through on the finish. Drink now through 2008.

The Seghesio family roots are firmly planted in Zinfandel. Edoardo Seghesio planted Zinfandel on the family’s Home Ranch in the Alexander Valley in 1895. Today his grandchildren share his passion as they farm over 80 hectares of Zinfandel in Alexander and Dry Creek Valley. This wine originates from sites that have produced Zinfandel for a century, as well as newer vineyards planted with the best clones and benefiting from the most advanced viticultural practices. This Zinfandel has aromas of fresh ripe raspberries and blueberries intertwined with briar patch spices. On the palate flavours of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries persist with notes of creamy oak. A silky and refined texture with juicy acidity and smooth, integrated tannins.
