[Two Boots] My favorite pizza wine. Simple but balanced. Ripe fruit (cherry, blackberry) peppery finish. Should always have at least one bottle available. Best of all there are 48k cases produced at $12-$16 so its readily accessible.
This wine introduced me to the world of wine; I loved it all around and still pick up bottles of other vintages for a special treat--however of course none can compare to my first.
Lately I have been fortunate to acquire Wine collections from storage locker sales. Yes I know it's a dirty job but some one has to drink all that wine so it doesn't go to waste. The bottle had been well stored and in a cool environment. I opened it on the spot to a mouth full of fruity berry flavors and the mellowness was exquisite. Just a little note; after day one day, day two leftovers were not quite as smooth but still enjoyable. This was one of the best Zins I have tasted. Still good after all these years.

The deep plum/ruby-colored 2002 Zinfandel Old Vine (16.6% alcohol) boasts loads of fruit in addition to a big, spicy nose of composty notes intermixed with black cherries, raspberries, pepper, and herbs. Drink this full-bodied, rich, dense, delicious 2002 over the next 3ndash;4 years.
Firm, tight and concentrated, with a rich beam of complex raspberry, blackberry, wild berry and floral scents and flavors, yet it has a great backbone of acidity and tannina, and the flavors push through on the finish. Drink now through 2008.
Wonderful balance and sense of elegance, it offers vivid ripe fruit flavors that are rich and complex, with spicy black cherry, blackberry, pomegranate, herb and sage notes that add flavor dimensions and complexity. Firm, but ripe tannins add structure, allowing the fruit to push through. Drink now through 2009.
All five Seghesio Zinfandel bottlings from the 2002 vintage are remarkable efforts, but this one is the most widely available and offers the best value. Winemaker Tag Seghesio made this wine from grapes grown on estate vineyards in Sonomarsquo;s Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley. It is aged in a mix of French and American oak for a year.
