User Reviews for Seghesio Family Vineyards Zinfandel Rockpile

Winemaker's Notes:

100% Zinfandel. Aromas of spice box and red fruit Intense flavors of currant, cherry and Zinfandel's briary spice Juicy entry with focused acidity and an extremely long finish. Barrel-aged 14 months in 25% new French/European oak barrels. Alcohol 14.8%. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by Connoisseurs' Guide: Picking a favorite from the Seghesio line-up is no easy task, but this one from the Rockpile appellation garners top honors. It is a fleshy, deeply fruity, full-blown exposition of Rockpile richness, and, while a very ripe wine, it is vital, alive and remarkably well-balanced. It already hints at earthy complexities and is replete with classic briary spice, and, however impressive it may be in its infancy, it is a serious Zin that will grow for years and demands at least a few in the cellar.
