What to Expect

Arneis is the white grape of Italy's Piedmont region. It produces a lightly styled white wine with gentle citrus edged orchard fruits that recalls pear and apricot and a slightly bitter floral note that can resemble almonds on the palate. Traditionally Arneis was produced as a slightly sweet wine and several producers continue this tradition.

Winemakers Notes

Arneis originates from the Piemonte region of Italy. Edoardo Seghesio, founder of Seghesio, emigrated from that same region in 1886. This rare grape's literal translation is "little rascal" due to its erratic ripening tendencies and temperamental nature during fermentation. For some time, Seghesio had the largest planting of Arneis in the United States - all of 26 vines. Today, they have 5,000 vines (8 acres) planted on their Keyhole Ranch vineyard.
