Editorial Reviews for Sebeka Chenin Blanc
This has some nice dust, chalk, and steely undertones on the nose that help to frame the ripe apricot, lemon curd and pollen tones of the fruit with an enticing red floral tone. Lovely balance on the palate, if a touch soft, but this is light and fresh and round all at the same time. The flavors are a touch simple with honey and raw peanut tones embedded in earthy pear and pineapple that lead to a long, crisp finish. 87pts

Peachy mealy nose. Nice balance of pear, apricot, and a touch of steely grass. Bit of a bready finish makes this a great value.
Very enjoyable with barbecued chicken.
Snappy chenin blanc, with lots of pineapple and tropical fruit flavors and aromas. Lots of acidity, too, although the wine definitely has a sweet impression. Good with fish tacos and mango salsa, or just for drinking on its own as a refresher. Bright, acidic. Nice value. First import for Sebeka.

A very nice straw color, beautiful clarity. I taste some pear, a nice minerality with nice acidity. Very nice.
To craft the 2008 Sebeka South Africa Chenin Blanc "Steen," Chenin Blanc grapes were used; 75% came from dry-grown bush vines and 25% came from the Worcester area, both in the Cape Province. They were carefully picked, gently de-stemmed prior to membrane-pressing, and given 24 hours of cold-setting to ensure that the bright, clean juice was able to ferment at cool temperatures, approximately 16°C. Following fermentation, the wines were stored cold to preserve the fresh tropical fruit flavor. The growing season was unusually cold with excellent spring rainfall. This ensured that grapes were able to ripen fully without dehydrating or suffering from the late summer heat-waves.
Our Sebeka Chenin Blanc is bright green‐gold in color, with fresh lively grapefruit, pineapple and quince aromas. A very fine palate with a full‐flavoured middle and fresh cleansing acidity.
